In a message posted on its web site, VentureWire the "free e-mail news service about private companies and venture capital" announced that it will not be totally free any longer. The company announced that it is preparing to roll-out two distinct levels of information to site visitors and e-mail newsletter subscribers - VentureWire Professional & VentureWire Alert. Pricing and launch date have not been set.
The new services are:
VentureWire Professional (paid service) -- In his message, VentureWire Publisher, Brian O'Connell promises that the new fee service "will be an expanded, comprehensive service for venture capitalists, technology executives, and other professionals." This paid service will include the in-depth stories regarding private technology companies and their venture capital investors formerly available in the free products. Additionally, paid subscribers will have access to a to-be-launched searchable database of "more than 24,000 financings, mergers, executive changes, layoffs, and other important developments," according to O'Connell's message.
VentureWire Alert (free service) -- O'Connell's message goes on to describe the free service as a "quick heads-up on market trends and an overview of notable venture deals each day" that will replace the currently free VentureWire newsletter.
