UPDATE: According to a notice posted on its Web site, Video Finders is no longer taking orders via the Internet. Calls to the its order line (800/343-4727) reveals that the service has also cut back its hours of live operation (7:00 AM-1:00 PM PT) due to "the reduced number of titles" they now offer for sale.
For nearly 13 years, VideoFinders has operated as a phone-based video sales business. The company, which specializes in public television programs, as well as hard-to-find items such classic television drama, foreign programs, documentaries and cult cinema is now on the web.
VideoFinders is owned and operated by KCET, the flagship Public Broadcasting television station in Los Angeles.
The site breaks its holdings down into nearly three dozen categories, including:
- Art History
- Biography
- Classic Film & TV
- Political Issues
- Pop Culture
"VideoFinders is really one-stop shopping," said Debbi Hinton, executive vice president, operations & chief financial officer of KCET, in a press release. "You can find all the popular videos that you get on other sites, but you can also find things that you have been searching for and not been able to find elsewhere. People come to us for items that many other video companies have listed as unavailable and we are able to locate them."
